In a foul mood, Bulls fans were pumped for Rondo
Rajon Rondo wasn't just priority No. 1 for the Bulls to stop in Game 6, he was public enemy No. 1 for a sold out United Center crowd.
And that was before the first quarter altercation with Kirk Hinrich.
The flagrant/non-flagrant ending to Game 5 left the Bulls fans seeing red Thursday night. Rondo's hard foul on Brad Miller with 2 seconds left in Game 5 made him the focal point of their anger, starting with the loudest boos in the introductions and continuing every time he touched the ball - and that only intensified after his flagrant foul on Hinrich in the first quarter.
It's not just Rondo who has rubbed Bulls fans the wrong way in this series. Kevin Garnett hasn't played a minute, yet his trash talking on the bench seems to rank him only behind Rondo, according to some Bulls fans.
Henry Hughes, an 11-year-old from Highland Park, was ready. He showed up with a sign that said "Hey KG, shut up!"
A few Boston fans stepped into the charged atmosphere. One wearing a green Celtics shirt heard a chorus of anti-Boston rants in the concourse before the game.
When the fan turned around and revealed a No. 5 Garnett on his back, the chant grew louder and focused its negative tone on "KG".
While there were a few Celtics fans spattered about, none were spotted who were brave enough to show up in a Rondo 9.
Although Rondo handed out 19 assists in the game, he did fill the United Center with smiles after he missed a half-court shot at the buzzer to give the Bulls their 128-127 triple-overtime win.
