Former Ill. cop sues ex-prosecutor

URBANA -- A former eastern Illinois police officer acquitted last year of using his job to force himself on strippers is suing a former prosecutor over the charges.

In his federal lawsuit, David Lewis claims that former Vermilion County Assistant State's Attorney Larry Mills asked the three other defendants to fabricate evidence against Lewis. The lawsuit claims Lewis, while a police officer in Belgium, Ill., questioned whether Mills was providing legal favors to gangs.

Other defendants in the April 10 lawsuit include Lewis' brother, Clint Gray.

Gray called the situation sad. Mills couldn't be reached for comment.

Lewis pleaded guilty to four misdemeanors last year. He was acquitted of eight charges and dozens of others dropped.
