Blago lawyer asks to tap campaign fund
Ousted Gov. Rod Blagojevich's lawyer has made a fresh plea for permission to tap the Democrat's campaign fund, saying an effective defense for Blagojevich requires more legal muscle than even a death penalty case.
Attorney Sheldon Sorosky told Judge James Zagel on Friday that it isn't a case in which one or two lawyers can effectively represent Blagojevich.
Sorosky says two lawyers may have been deemed enough to defend someone facing a possible death penalty. But he says such cases rarely involve the huge volume of documentary and wiretap evidence Blagojevich's legal team must cope with.
Zagel made no decision and told Sorosky and the government to come back May 11.
