Woman ticketed in Bartlett crash

A Hanover Park woman was ticketed in a Tuesday crash in Bartlett that sent three people to the hospital with serious injuries.

Maura Zavala, 26, of the 1700 block of McCormick Lane, was ticketed for improper lane usage and driving without a valid license, Bartlett police said.

Zavala was traveling west on Lake Street when authorities said her Hyundai Santa Fe crossed the center line and smashed head-on into a Ford Five Hundred near Bartlett Road at about 1:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Three people in the Ford were hospitalized with what authorities on Tuesday called serious injuries, including one person who was airlifted to Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove. All three were still hospitalized Wednesday but it was unclear if their conditions had changed. The other two people who were injured were taken to Sherman Hospital in Elgin.

Bartlett police said Zavala told them she'd swerved into oncoming traffic because another car had cut her off. There was no indication of intoxication, authorities said.
