Homeless Oak Park man gets 39 write-in votes

Officials say a man barred from an election ballot because he is homeless got 39 write-in votes in Oak Park.

Daniel Fore ran for the Oak Park village board in the April 7 election. The Cook County Clerk's office said Tuesday the next-lowest vote-getter received nearly 1,900 votes.

Fore's candidacy generated attention when a Cook County judge barred him from the ballot because he didn't list a local address on his election paperwork. Fore's papers indicated he was homeless and listed a post office box.

Fore ran as a write-in candidate, saying he cared about issues in the suburb west of Chicago famous for its Frank Lloyd Wright architecture.
