N. Chicago woman killed in fire

A North Chicago woman's smoking may have led to a fire that killed her Sunday night, Lake County Coroner Dr. Richard Keller said. Susan Johnson, 60, of the 3300 block of Beacon, was pronounced dead about 10 p.m. at Advocate Condell Medical Center. Many cigarettes were found near Johnson's bed, Keller said. An autopsy conducted Monday revealed she died of carbon monoxide poisoning. The fire remained under investigation.
