Community Chest fete

Geneva Community Chest will host a Wine Gala from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Fresh Market, 718 Commons Drive. Participants will enjoy prime rib, shrimp cocktail, cheeses and other hors d'oeuvres. Tickets are $25 per person. Call Sherri Weitl at (630) 232-8171 to arrange purchase. Park rolls out new maps

If you want to explore any of the Fox Valley Park District's 150 parks or fish in its lakes, new tools are available to help find where you want to go. The district's Summer Activity Guide for Adults includes a full-color directory illustrating locations of every park throughout Aurora, North Aurora and Montgomery. Anglers can obtain printable lake maps online at foxvalleyparkdistrict.org. On May 1, an all-encompassing, interactive map will be unveiled on the Web site.

Wheaton Academy concert

Come listen to the eclectic music of the Turtle Island Quartet at 7:30 p.m. May 8 at Wheaton Academy, 900 Prince Crossing Road, West Chicago. You'll hear chamber, jazz, folk, rock and world music in this fusion of the classical quartet aesthetic with contemporary American musical styles. Geneva naturalist quitting

Becky Lambert, superintendent of natural areas and interpretation for the Geneva Park District, is resigning effective May 9 to become manager of the Atwood Environmental Center in Rockford. She has worked for Geneva for three years. Among her duties was the management of Peck Farm Park.

These guys cook

Celebrate Mother's Day weekend with "60 Men Who Cook," featuring local celebrities, at 6 p.m. May 8 at the Kane County Fairgrounds, 525 S. Randall Road, St. Charles. The event is presented by the Geneva Chamber of Commerce to benefit the Geneva History Center, Geneva Lions Club and Rotary Club of Geneva. Tickets are $25 before the event or $35 at the door and include food tastings, voting and entertainment. The evening will also include a cash bar and a raffle.
