Prairie Singers: The Prairie Singers of Sun City Huntley will present their spring concert, "American Songbook," at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 2, and 2 p.m. Sunday, May 3, at Huntley High School Performing Arts Center, 13719 Harmony Road in Huntley. American composers, including George Gershwin and Stephen Sondheim, will be featured in show tunes, folk songs, and patriotic music. The Sun Tones also will perform, and members of the Sun City concert band will accompany the Prairie Singers. Tickets are available at Prairie Lodge and at the Huntley branches of Castle Bank, Citizen's Bank, and Harris Bank. Details are on the posters and monitors at both lodges, Channel 96, and the Web portal. The cost is $10 for adults and $3 for children, age 2-12.
Breast Cancer Support Hour: The next meeting of the Breast Cancer Support Hour will be at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 6, in the coffee bar area at the Walleye Grill Restaurant, 12940 Del Webb Blvd., Huntley. They will order from the menu and separate checks will be issued. Since this is a luncheon, all members who will be attending must call either Char Hurt at (847) 961-5795 or Sharon Kooi at (224) 569-6241, who will be the hostesses.
Initial planning and committee set up for the 5K Cancer Walk in September is on the agenda. This special interest group meets the first Wednesday of every month and is open to all breast cancer survivors who are residents of Sun City. For details on this group, call Sherri Manz at (847) 669-3688.
Neighborhood 11: Neighborhood 11 is having their quarterly meeting at 7 p.m. Monday, May 11, in the Elm Room at Meadowview Lodge, 12980 Meadowview Court, Huntley. Residents from Neighborhood 11 are invited to come out to this informative meeting. Larry LeBeau, from the finance committee, will speak on the current financial status, budget, and how those figures are developed. His talk will be followed by a question and answer period. Mark your calendars for this important meeting. You need to keep informed and aware of the financial situation of the community, especially in these difficult times.
Sun City Concert Band: On Thursday, May 14, the Sun City Concert Band will present "Movies and Musicals," a tribute to American musical entertainment at 7 p.m. in the Drendel Ballroom at the Prairie Lodge, 12880 Del Webb Blvd. in Sun City. The program is designed to please the audience with a variety of musical renditions. Selections are sure to bring back memories of familiar tunes and shows. Concert tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for children. On Friday, May 1, they will be sold from 8:30 a.m. until tickets are sold out. For details, call Cheryl Rotermund at (847) 961-5905.
Cribbage: On April 22, there was a tie for first place between David Petty and Ralph Wehnes, both with scores of 482 points. High individual hands were posted by Petty 24; Harry Anderle (2) 21; Bob Ferraris 21, 20; and Wehnes, Chuck Zunker, Sandi Mis, 20. There were three skunks.
