Broadway's back, but can he stick in Sox' bullpen?
No offense to Lance Broadway, but White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen is already tired of his revolving door bullpen.
Mike MacDougal was cut loose Tuesday and his replacement, Jack Egbert, was sent back to Class AAA Charlotte after Friday night's loss to the Blue Jays.
Broadway, 0-2 with a 5.63 ERA in 3 starts with Charlotte this season, moves into the Sox' bullpen.
"We wish we don't have to do this every week," Guillen said. "It's not easy for anyone. Every week we have different faces. Try to figure out what's the one that's going to stick here and stay here."
Broadway, the White Sox' first-round draft pick in 2005, has had four stints on the South Side over the last two seasons.
"I said, 'It's good to see you again. Hopefully, this will be the last time I have to welcome you back to the team,' '' Guillen said. "Like I've been saying, this is an important role for us. If it was not important, we would just keep the same guys."
In 11 career appearances (2 starts) with the Sox, the 25-year-old Broadway is 2-1 with a 4.44 ERA.
"Anytime you have more experience, you gain more confidence and you understand the game better," Broadway said. "For young players, that's a big step."
Lineup change: Chris Getz was scratched before Saturday night's game with a bruised middle finger on his right hand.
Brent Lillibridge stepped in for Getz and batted leadoff for the White Sox.
Enough said: White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen didn't even bother talking to his players following Friday night's 14-0 loss to the Blue Jays.
Afterward, Guillen said: "It's one of the worst games I've seen as a manger."
"I don't expect them to be perfect every day," Guillen said on Saturday. "As long as you try, I know you try, we're going to have bad games, we're going to have great games, we're going to have really embarrassing games like we did last night.
"We're going to go through a lot of difficulty when you play 162 games. But as long as you try. We were making fun of, I was making fun of (starter) Gavin (Floyd). I know he's better than that, he knows he's better than that, he just don't have it last night. I can live with that."
