Charges pending in Algonquin motorcycle crash

Algonquin police say charges are pending from a Friday afternoon crash that sent a motorcycle rider to hospital by Flight for Life helicopter.

Juan Zamora, 36, of the 500 block of Grace Street in Elgin, will be charged with improper lane usage, Algonquin police Sgt. Paul Riese said.

Police say Zamora was driving a gray Nissan Frontier pickup truck southbound on Harrison Street when it crossed the center line, colliding with silver Harley Davidson headed northbound.

The Harley Davidson rider, Richard Martinez, 39, of the 1600 block of Lowe Drive in Algonquin, was airlifted to Advocate Lutheran Hospital in Park Ridge, where he was listed in stable condition Saturday.

Martinez, who was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, broke several bones when he was thrown from the motorcycle, police said.

Zamora was not injured in the crash, authorities said.
