Elgin man charged with biting daughter

A man accused of biting his 5-month-old daughter on the arm when she wouldn't stop crying for her bottle, was released from the Elgin jail Thursday morning after posting $500 bond.

Guadalupe Gutierrez Jr., 21, of the 200 block of Aldine Street, faces a misdemeanor battery charge for the incident that police say occured Wednesday at 5 a.m.

Elgin Deputy Police Chief Jeff Swoboda said the child's mother reported the incident to police.

According to court documents, Gutierrez's bite mark left redness and teeth prints on his child's forearm.

Gutierrez is due back in court 9 a.m. Tuesday at the Kane County Judicial Center.

He faces up to a year in prison, if convicted of the charge.
