Waukegan woman denies molesting girl at Boys and Girls Club

A Waukegan woman pleaded not guilty to charges that she molested an underage girl multiple times at the Boys and Girls Clubs of Lake County in Waukegan, officials said.

Giana Burkley, 19, of 405 8th St., has been charged with six counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, and currently remains behind bars unable to pay the required 10 percent of her $25,000 bond, officials said.

The abuse took place over a six-month period beginning in September, Waukegan police officials said.

Officials added she is alleged to have performed sex acts on the then-13-year-old girl at her home and on the property of the Boys and Girls Club, which Burkley frequented with her family members.

Burkley pleaded not guilty to the felony counts in Lake County Circuit Court and is expected back in court May 12.
