No criminal charges in fatal Geneva crash
No felony or misdemeanor charges will be filed against the driver of a vehicle involved in a fatal crash last month in Geneva, the Kane County state's attorney's office announced Wednesday.
At 4:20 p.m. March 14, a 2005 Mini Cooper driven by a 29-year-old Geneva woman was traveling east on Route 38 when it crossed the center line near Kirk Road. It hit a Chevrolet pickup driven by 84-year-old Walter E. Lohmeyer of St. Charles, killing him.
A third vehicle, a 1998 Chevrolet S-10 pickup, was damaged when it swerved onto the median to avoid the Mini Cooper. No one from that vehicle was injured. The woman suffered leg injuries.
The investigation revealed the woman had no alcohol or drugs in her system.
The state's attorney's office news release said Geneva police are expected to file traffic citations against the woman, but Geneva police Cmdr. Julie Nash said Wednesday afternoon the department has not determined whether it will do so.
