Chicago State faculty wants trustees removed

The faculty senate at Chicago State University is preparing to ask Gov. Pat Quinn to remove the school's board of trustees.

The university's faculty and a group of students have recently expressed displeasure over the trustees' plan to appoint either City Colleges of Chicago chancellor Wayne Watson or Department of Human Services secretary Carol Adams to lead Chicago State. Both have been dismissed as political insiders.

University trustee the Rev. Richard Tolliver has said the two finalists best fit the leadership criteria outlined by the board.

The Chicago Sun-Times reports a draft of a letter approved by the faculty senate to be given to the governor says the faculty has lost confidence in the ability and motives of the trustees.
