Antioch cops: Drug dealer called 911 to report robbery
A 19-year-old man who called 911 after being robbed at gunpoint in the Wal-Mart parking lot in Antioch has been arrested and charged with selling drugs, according to police.
Cory M. Oxtoby, of the 600 block of Wilmot Road, Twin Lakes, WI, called police Saturday evening and reported he had been robbed by two men, reports said. Oxtoby provided a description of their car, including the license plate number, Police Commander Jim Ruth said.
Officers spotted the car and stopped it at Route 173 and Savage Road. They arrested the driver, Laracio Jennings-Jefferson, 21, of the 2000 block of Washington Street, Waukegan, and Diante D. Edwards, 20, of the 1700 block of Seymour Avenue, North Chicago, after finding a loaded .357 magnum pistol and a plastic bag containing more than a half pound of marijuana, reports said.
During questioning, Jennings-Jefferson and Edwards admitted they robbed Oxtoby after Oxtoby got into their car in the parking lot, reports said.
Oxtoby was arrested and charged with one count of unlawful delivery of cannabis, a felony punishable by up to five years in prison. Jennings-Jefferson was charged with one count of armed violence, a felony punishable by up to 30 years in prison, two counts of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and one count of unlawful possession of cannabis. Edwards was charged with one count of unlawful possession of cannabis, a felony carrying a prison sentence of up to three years.
All three were taken to bond court and are held at Lake County jail on various bonds pending a May 13 court date.
