Online broker firm to open Barrington branch

Scottrade, an online broker firm, is opening a branch office in Barrington on Monday, April 27.

While some people are skeptical of the stock market and the state of the economy right now, executives at Scottrade believe Barrington is a thriving area with a market for online trading.

Paul Guistolise will serve as branch manager at the new office at 530 North Hough Street in The Shops at Flint Creek. He most recently served as manager at Scottrade's Wilmette branch.

Other nearby offices include Schaumburg, Arlington Heights, St. Charles and Gurnee.

As an online broker, Scottrade offers a low cost way for the average person to enter the market. Brokers do not give advice on the market or trading, however. Brokers can help with Scottrade tutorials and answer account-related questions.

"Customers can visit the office to open or fund an account, attend a branch seminar, or learn how Scottrade's products and services can help them become better-informed investors,"Guistolise said.

Scottrade allows customers to buy many stocks online at $7 per trade and the support of the largest branch network among online investment firms, with more than 400 nationwide branch offices.

The Barrington office will be open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
