Mob prosecutor: Marshal acted guilty
Chicago's top federal prosecutor says a deputy marshal charged with leaking details of a major mob investigation was highly stressed when confronted with the evidence.
U.S. Attorney Patrick J. Fitzgerald testified Monday at the Chicago trial of deputy U.S. marshal John T. Ambrose.
In response to a question from Ambrose's defense attorney, Fitzgerald told the trial that Ambrose's carotid artery was "throbbing" when Fitzgerald confronted Ambrose about the allegations against him.
The 42-year-old Ambrose is charged with leaking information about a key witness in the FBI's Operation Family Secrets investigation -- the biggest Chicago mob case in years.
The trial is now going into its second week.
