Aurora man killed in morning motorcycle crash

A 22-year-old Aurora man was found dead Friday morning after apparently losing control of his motorcycle and hitting a median on the city's far west side, police said.

Sergio Moreno-Ascencio of the 200 block of South Lake Street was discovered by a motorist who was driving before 1 a.m. in the area of Galena Boulevard and Constitution Drive.

Moreno-Ascencio was in the southbound lanes of Constitution Drive about 200 feet north of Galena Boulevard, suffering from massive head injuries. Aurora police said it appears he was driving south on Constitution and hit the center median.

He apparently was thrown from the motorcycle, which then traveled almost to the intersection of Constitution and Galena.

The exact time of the crash is not known and authorities say the victim may have been in the road for some time before he was discovered. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The preliminary investigation indicates alcohol may have been a factor in the crash. Moreno-Ascencio was not wearing a helmet.

An autopsy is pending at the Kane County coroner's office.

Anyone who may have witnessed the crash is asked to call police at (630) 801-6610.
