Nicor inks union deal with IBEW

NAPERVILLE - The membership of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 19 on Friday ratified a new labor contract with Nicor Gas Co., a subsidiary of Nicor Inc. About 1,400 Nicor Gas employees are members of the union. The new labor contract is effective March 1, 2009, through Feb. 28, 2014. Among other things, the new contract will provide for general wage increases of 3 percent effective March 1, 2009 and March 1, 2010; 3.5 percent effective March 1, 2011; 3 percent effective March 1, 2012 and 3.25 percent effective March 1, 2013.
