Waukegan teen charged in Round Lake Beach shooting
A Waukegan teen is facing felony charges after he shot another teen in Round Lake Beach, police said Thursday.
Miguel G. Rodriguez, 19, of the 1700 block of Golf Road, was arrested early Monday and charged with armed violence, aggravated battery with a firearm and aggravated discharge of a firearm.
The shooting occurred about 11:30 p.m. Sunday outside an apartment building on the 1300 block of Cedar Lake Road in Round Lake Beach, Police Chief Douglas Larsson said.
The victim, a younger teen, was wounded in the leg. He was treated at Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville and released, police said.
Police believe the victim was targeted, based on comments he made to investigators.
The gunman left the area in a green Ford pickup truck, police said. Waukegan police located and stopped the truck a few hours after the shooting and arrested Rodriguez.
Larsson wouldn't say if the gun used in the shooting was recovered.
