Donate food in Batavia:

Volunteers from nine churches and the Batavia Lions Club will collect money and food donations for the Batavia Interfaith Food Pantry today through Sunday at Amstadt's grocery store, Wilson and Van Buren streets, and Jewel-Osco, 119 S. Randall Road. Donations can also be dropped off at the pantry, 100 Flinn Drive. Food pantry hours are 7 to 7:30 p.m. Mondays, 1 to 3 p.m. Tuesdays and 10 a.m. to noon Fridays.

Geneva carnival continues:

The Cabin Fever Carnival continues through Sunday and resumes Wednesday through April 26 on Route 38, just east of Randall Road, near Colonial Cafe and Burger King. Proceeds will benefit Geneva festivals and events organized by the Geneva Chamber of Commerce. Tickets are $20 per person per day. Wednesday is Dollar Day. There are unlimited-ride specials with a $5 discount coupon from 6 to 10 p.m. Wednesdays and Thursdays and 1 to 5 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays.

Enjoy fish fry:

The Fox River-Geneva American Legion Post 75 has a fish fry from 5 to 8 tonight at the post, Second and James streets, Geneva. Choices include fried cod and shrimp, fried chicken, french fries, coleslaw and a changing variety of side dishes. Dinner prices start at $7.50, and a cash bar is available.

Barbecue fundraiser:

Fox Valley Special Recreation Association will have a fundraising pork chop and chicken barbecue and basket raffle from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Prisco Community Center, 150 W. Illinois Ave. in Aurora. Tickets are $9 for a large meal and $8 for a small meal. Dine-in, carryout and drive-through options are available. Hot dog meals are $3. Basket raffle tickets are $5 each, three for $10, 10 for $25, or 25 for $50. For raffle and dinner tickets, call (630) 907-1114.

Energy, environment talk:

"Energy and the Environment" will be presented by Fermilab physicist and Geneva alderman Chuck Brown at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Geneva Public Library, 127 James St. He will discuss energy production and its impact on the environment. The presentation will be followed by a discussion session on what people can do to affect the new directions in energy production and the environment.
