Trader Joe's plans Arlington Heights expansion

The Trader Joe's in Arlington Heights will be expanding this summer, according to the store's manager, Rich Siefert.

The trendy grocery store will take over the store lot in the back that used to be occupied by a scrap booking store, Siefert said.

"Business is good and we just need more room, especially by the cash registers," he said.

The construction schedule isn't set, but most of the work will start soon with the project wrapping up at the end of the summer, Siefert said.

The store - which is located at 17 W. Rand Road - will be open during the expansion.

Talk about a sign of the times: Urban Harvest- famous for hosting wine parties - will host one with a twist this week. Joining with Flaherty Jewelers, the two stores will host a "Glittering Gold and Sparkling Wine" party from 3 to 8 p.m. on Friday, April 17. Residents can exchange their gold jewelry for cash or store credit. There will also be wine and specialty food samples.

Urban Harvest is located at 15 S. Dunton Ave in downtown Arlington Heights.
