'Chicago Tonight' to celebrate 25th year

WTTW Channel 11's "Chicago Tonight" holds a benefit today in advance of its 25th anniversary next Friday. The fundraiser "25 Years of Chicago Tonight: A Celebratory Benefit" takes place at 6:30 p.m. Friday at the Harris Theater for Music and Dance, 205 E. Randolph Drive, Chicago. Tim Kazurinsky plays host, and Mavis Staples and Billy Corgan perform. Tickets are $125, available through wttw.com.

Depp hangs 10

None other than Johnny Depp gives voice to surfing guru Jack Kahuna Laguna on the new "SpongeBob SquarePants" episode "SpongeBob vs. the Big One" at 7 p.m. today on Nickelodeon. It's part of the ongoing 10th anniversary celebration for "SpongeBob."

Two cops shows back

Sunday is a big night for returning cable cop shows. First "Law & Order: Criminal Intent," which long ago made the leap to USA, is back for its eighth season at 8 p.m. Then Mary McCormack's "In Plain Sight" follows with the premiere of its second season at 9 p.m.

'Road' goes on forever

Patrick Swayze finds a new venue for his typical rough-and-tumble studmuffin with a heart of gold as a bouncer in "Road House." Kelly Lynch and tough guy Sam Elliott are along for the ride at 7 p.m. today on AMC.
