Problems underscore need for reforms

Problems in Illinois show the need for action and/or legislation on the following:

• An amendment providing for recall of state, county and local officials. (We could have saved time and money if we could have recalled the former governor sooner.)

• Serious campaign reform laws with limits on contributions, public disclosure of names of contributors and amounts of contributions.

• Change the time of the primary election (maybe to September) to give the governor and the legislators time to correct the mess our state is in without having to raise money and campaign.

• Abolish the Illinois Tollway system or at least remove it from private control. The Tollway system is a magnet for political payoff, corruption and waste.
