Gay marriage equals special treatment

In response to Dayle Roberts, a lesbian who advocates marriage between people of the same sex to each other and states that to deny that right to homosexuals and lesbians is discriminating against them, I would like to point out that there is no discrimination involved in prohibiting such unions. We heterosexual people are also not allowed to marry persons of the same gender, so where is the discrimination? There is none if we are forced to obey the same laws as homosexuals, who have the same right as heterosexuals to marry people of the opposite sex.

Roberts isn't asking for equal rights. She is asking for special treatment because of her sexual lifestyle. Never in history have people of the same sex been granted the right to marry and the vast majority of the people in the United States (including President Obama) are against granting them that right.

I rest my case.
