No injuries, lots of smoke in Antioch garage fire
No one was injured in a garage fire that sparked in the 200 block of Ridgewood Drive early Wednesday, Antioch fire officials said.
Lt. Chris Leinhardt, spokesman for the Antioch Fire Department, said the fire sparked inside of the attached garage of the single-story ranch home at about 7:15 a.m. but that residents inside the home were able to get out and call for help.
He said the fire produced heavy smoke and started to burn into the home's laundry room before fire fighters were able to knock it down at about 7:45 a.m.
He said no one was injured in the fire and that all animals were able to escape the blaze.
The house has been declared uninhabitable, he added, but only because the fire was able to burn into a utility closet where the water heater and furnace is located inside the home.
He said damage estimates were not available.
