Coverage of guns was total overkill
Imagine my surprise when I saw the headline above the fold, first story today: "30 guns found in home."
Hmm, sounds ominous, sounds threatening, sounds intentionally illegal, no?
By the third paragraph, we are told this (person) who was randomly firing his LEGAL guns in the house had a valid FOID card and "didn't break any laws by having the guns."
These are facts, people. Put aside your emotions for the moment.
Next we read the police found, gasp, gun cleaning equipment! Gun vests and gun holders were also found! Then, to top it all off, this guy "had no criminal record."
Can you say this story is trying to sound intimidating and is similar to yelling "fire" in the movie theater? I'm not saying the guy was not dangerous: I'm saying please stop trying to make this story something it is not. Obviously he should be punished! That is NOT the point.
With stories like this trying to incite terror among citizens, it is no wonder the average person is overwhelmed with fear of "guns."
What is next? I'm waiting for the Brady Gun Control representative to shout "he has too many guns." No wonder the Second Amendment is a joke to the Illinois legislature.
Keep up the inflammatory rhetoric. When emotion trumps the facts, we are indeed in deep trouble.
