Downstate bingo hall robbed at gunpoint

GRANITE CITY -- A gunman apparently wasn't playing games when he walked into a southwestern Illinois bingo hall with a shotgun and robbed the place.

Police in Granite City say the bandit made off with an undisclosed amount of money from the counter area in the middle of the Knights of Columbus hall Sunday night as more than 100 bingo players looked on.

There were no injuries.

Major Jeff Connor says none of the players recognized the suspect.
