3 charged in death of elderly man

Bond has been set at $1 million apiece for three men charged in the shooting death of an 80-year-old southern Illinois man.

Prosecutors have charged 45-year-old Dennis Edwards of Belleville and his nephews, 27-year-old George Edwards of East St. Louis and 23-year-old Santez Edwards. They're being held at the East St. Louis Jail.

All three are charged with first-degree murder and residential burglary in the death last month of Spencer Brewer.

Brewer was found shot to death on March 29 after worried neighbors called police to his home.

Brewer was known to sell single cigarettes and packs from his car and front door but never let anyone into his house.

Police say Dennis Edwards knew Brewer and had bought cigarettes from him.
