Opposing Route 53 not an issue of class
Shame on you, Mr. Tischuser. In your letter April 2, you have taken an environmental issue, Route 53, and attempted to reduce that issue to one of what you perceive to be class warfare. For those of us who have fought a highway that would destroy the environment through which it would be bulldozed with no concern for the wetlands or the wildlife it would forever eradicate, I take issue with your ill-informed attempt to make this a haves-vs-have-nots agenda. What do you think will happen if 53 goes through to spill commuters onto two-lane roads unequipped to take the traffic? Do you think that will ease congestion? What will be left of remaining open space if 53 goes through and insures the kind of development that has occurred along the path of every other tollway? Are you prepared to assume the high taxes engendered by uncontrolled development? What will happen to the existing roads already in disrepair? You might be advised to understand the issues before promoting the nonsense spewed in your letter.
