Why government's mad at Madoff

I have to wonder why our government is angry at Bernie Madoff. If you think about it, it does not make sense. Who was it that he bilked out of billions of dollars? The people he whacked were rich, they had to be because he would only let you in if you invested millions. Who is it the government wants to go after and tax into submission today? Once again it is the rich. The government should be happy and thankful for Madoff, he made some rich people less rich. This brings me to the point of why the government is mad at Bernie Madoff. I think the reason they are mad is because he came up with a scheme to get rich people to give him their money and they the government did not or could not think of it. The only way our government can come up with to take our money is tax us and well take it. If our government ever gets as smart as Bernie Madoff we will be in big trouble.
