Former Geneva priest back in jail
Mark Campobello, a former Geneva priest who pleaded guilty in 2004 to molesting two teenage girls at a Geneva church and an Aurora high school, returned to Joliet's Stateville Correctional Center after losing his approved housing, according to a report in the Rockford Register-Star.
Campobello, 40, was paroled in February 2008. He received additional prison time for parole violations in April and July of that year, according to the published report.
An Illinois Department of Corrections spokesman stated that Campobello was not arrested or charged with a crime and that it is not uncommon for a parolee to lose housing. Campobello's parole can be reinstated if he finds alternative housing of which the IDOC approves, the spokesman said.
Attempts to reach IDOC representatives and representatives from the Roman Catholic Diocese of Rockford were not successful.
