Details emerging on Bartlett arts fest

Sponsorships and program advertising are being accepted for the seventh annual Bartlett Festival of the Arts, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. June 27-28, in Bartlett Park. More than 50 artists will display and sell their work in a wide range of 2D and 3D media: paintings; photography; fiber; sculpture; glass; jewelry; wood and more.

Entertainment will include music, local dance troupes, a drama by the Bartlett Historical Society, drumming circles and henna art in the World Tent, face painting, storytelling and art projects in the children's art gazebo. A food and wine tent, with snack vendors, will be provided.

Volunteers are needed both days to help artists set up, staff the Information Tent, pass out programs and many other tasks. (630) 372-4152.

'Autism in April' exhibit on display

The South Barrington Park District presents a new art exhibit, "Autism In April,"a collaboration between the park district, La Citadelle Art, a nonprofit organization, and Northwest Special Recreation Association.

Artwork on display includes pieces from the project "Imagine" created by autistic teens in art classes taught by La Citadelle in conjunction with NWSRA and the park district. Also on display are photographs used in the book "Souls Beneath and Beyond Autism" by Thomas Balsamo and Sharon Rosenbloom.

The work in the exhibit captures the feelings of artistic teens, and the viewpoint of the artists. The exhibit is presented during National Autism Awareness Month, in the South Barrington Community Center foyer at 3 Tennis Club Lane. Exhibit hours are 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday.

Hoffman Jaycees offer scholarships

The Hoffman Estates Jaycees will sponsor two $500 college scholarships for two high school seniors living in Hoffman Estates, given to well-rounded individuals based on merit and giving back to their community and/or school.

The Hoffman Estates Jaycees are looking for future leaders and community-service minded individuals to build the future. Download the application from the Jaycee Web site, www.hoffmanestatesjaycees.org. Deadline is May 1.
