Second daughter in fatal Barrington Hills crash dies
The 6-year-old girl who was clinging to life after a Barrington Hills car crash last week has died, the Cook County Medical Examiner's office said.
Madison Page of Wonder Lake was pronounced dead at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge at 4:36 p.m. Wednesday.
She was critically injured in the crash, which also killed her mother and 7-year-old sister.
Her mother, Barbara Page, was driving a Ford Focus eastbound on Route 62 Saturday when it crossed the center line and hit a GMC van head-on and the back end of a Nissan Sentra, police said.
Barbara Page died at the scene. Her daughter Angelina was taken to St. Alexius Medical Center in Hoffman Estates, where she was pronounced dead later that day.
The police and medical examiner are still awaiting the results of toxicology tests needed to determine the cause of the crash. Officials said the test results should take about six weeks.
Barrington Hills police said the use of toxicology testing is standard procedure after such a major collision.
The driver of the GMC van, Otilio Soto-Lopez of Carpentersville, was treated and released from St. Alexius Medical Center in Hoffman Estates. His three passengers remained hospitalized in stable condition Thursday, police said.
According to court records, Barbara Page has been divorced from her daughters' father, 36-year-old Michael Page, since 2005. He lives in Arkansas and could not be reached for comment Thursday.
