So what's your new mayor like? The Daily Herald asked our new mayors and village presidents a few 'get to know you' questions Wednesday, the day after voters chose them to lead their communities.
Q. Who is your political role model?
A. I don't really have one. Anybody who can build consensus and provide progressive leadership.
Q. What is the first thing you want to change?
A. Communication efforts. Reaching out to people, capturing the momentum of the recent elections and make sure people stay involved.
Q. What is your favorite movie?
A. I really like "Lean on Me" and "Rocky" for the underdog-type victor coming out.
Q. How did you celebrate?
A. We had a get-together with family. Last night, when we got home, we celebrated with confetti and sparkling apple juice. My kids and my wife and I had a private celebration and cake.
Q. What's the last good book you read?
A. "The Last Lecture." I was very inspired by Randy, being that he was around my age. I thought I could really relate to all the things he was referencing.
Q. Cubs or Sox?
A. Both, but if I had to choose - Sox. I'm a Chicago fan, but we're a house divided. My wife and one son are for the Cubs, me and the other son are Sox.
