CBS readies Masters coverage; HBO looks at 2nd Ali-Frazier bout
Masters & vanquished
CBS does its usual highfalutin coverage of the Masters golf tournament starting at 2:30 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday on WBBM Channel 2, but in exchange for reduced ad breaks it's a fair deal. ESPN has today's second-round coverage from 3 to 6:30 p.m., and CBS has the day's highlights at 10:35 on Channel 2. ... HBO lets sports rule too this weekend with "Thrilla in Manila," a look at the second rematch between Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier, told from Frazier's perspective, debuting at 7 p.m. Saturday.
Office politics
The competition is different at TBS this weekend, as Mike O'Malley plays host to the "World's Funniest Office Commercials." It's the latest twist on TBS' popular mélange of worldwide advertising. Will they play snippets of real shows like "My Boys" as breaks when it runs at 7 p.m. Sunday?
TCM anniversary
Turner Classic Movies celebrates its 15th anniversary by turning its programming over to some of the network's biggest fans, culled from audience responses, starting with New Yorker Theresa Brown introducing "The Letter" with Bette Davis at 7 p.m. Monday. The film fest runs in prime time through April 17.'Kings' of pain
You wouldn't think a movie about the Iraq war could be a hoot-and-a-half thriller - not even one about the original Operation Desert Storm. Yet, with the help of director David Russell, George Clooney, Ice Cube and Mark Wahlberg make a hunt for Saddam Hussein's hidden gold seem like high entertainment in "Three Kings." It runs at 7:30 p.m. today on Bravo.
