State has plenty of airports right now
Just a note to Governor Pat Quinn. Illinois does not need a fifth airport, that's right, a fifth airport! There are already four airports: O'Hare, Midway, Rockford and Joliet. The proposed airport in Peotone is a great waste of time and money that Illinois does not have. The statistics about O'Hare and Midway are known, but Rockford is a well-kept secret! That airport lands commercial aircraft every day and can handle much more. That area will benefit because there will be more permanent jobs. What jobs will a fifth, nonexisting, airport provide now? If the governor wants to propose something that will benefit Illinois, he should propose upgrading the Joliet airport. This will provide jobs now and in the future. The present economy can't sustain higher taxes and wasteful spending. Illinois will benefit from the use of both the Rockford and Joliet airports that are presently being ignored.
