Mayoral candidates tied in Mettawa race

The race for Mettawa mayor was a dead heat late Tuesday, with longtime incumbent Barry MacLean and challenger Jess Ray locked with 143 votes each, according to unofficial totals.

That does not include provisional and late-arriving absentee ballots, according to the Lake County Clerk's election Web site.

For four-year trustee, unofficial totals showed challengers Bill Armstrong and John Maier of the Mettawa Transparency Party and incumbent Mary Brennan as the winners over three other candidates.

For the two-year seat, incumbent Larry Falbe bested Amy Sue Weiland.
