Incumbents, Stein win seats on Wheeling park board

All three incumbents and newcomer Sue Stein won four-year terms on the Wheeling park board Tuesday.

Top vote-getters with 28 of 28 precincts reporting were Brian Lichtenberger, with 1,684; Mike Kurgan, with 1,655; Vivian Smith, with 1,524; and Stein with 1,471, according to unofficial results. Challenger George Hernandez had 1,234 votes.

The campaign focused on Heritage Park, with plans already adopted for a playground, bandshell and soccer, tennis and basketball facilities. Stein has suggested a skate park, and Hernandez suggested an exercise path.
