Incumbents lose in Algonquin library

When it came to the Algonquin Area Public Library Board, challengers Amy Faubl and Joseph Stefani ran away with the election, unseating incumbent Edward Mudra in the race for two, 4-year seats.

According to unofficial results, Faubl had 1,271 votes, Stefani had 1,208 votes and Mudra had 753, with all precincts in McHenry and Kane counties reporting.

Mudra, Faubl and Stefani all pledged to make fiscal responsibility a priority and have offered different ways of doing so. Stefani has said he'd look for ways to save money in the library's budget, while Faubl says officials should research every spending decision carefully.

Mudra says members have already tried refinancing construction bonds to help taxpayers save money.
