Anti-discrimination group honors Constable

Daily Herald columnist Burt Constable has been honored by The American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee as "one of Chicago's great journalists."

The committee selected Constable as the winner of this year's Media Award for Professionalism in Journalism to be presented at a banquet in Oak Brook on May 12, according to a statement announcing the award.

The Arab-American association works to fight discrimination and the biased reporting that perpetuates it.

"We believe your reports over the years have contributed towards this battle against bias and discrimination by providing viewers with all major sides of a story," the award letter says. "That fairness helps to educate the public and directly helps in combating discrimination."
