Wheeling teen charged with sex abuse

A Cook County judge set bond at $150,000 Monday for a 16-year-old Wheeling resident charged with three counts of criminal sexual assault of a 4-year-old.

The law demands that defendant Benigo Sanchez be charged as an adult for the Class X felony, which carries a possibility of six to 30 years in prison.

Additionally, Judge Kay Hanlon imposed special conditions on the bond should the defendant come up with the required $15,000.

They include 24-hour confinement to his home in the 200 block of second street, except for when he's at school, no contact with the victim or the victim's family and no contact with anyone under the age of 18, except at school.

He next appears in court April 28.
