Carpentersville man charged with child porn
A 43-year-old Carpentersville man was charged with one count of child pornography possession over the weekend, police said Monday.
Faron Greene, of the 500 block of Waco Lane, is accused of downloading explicit images and videos of girls younger than 17 from the Internet. His bond was set at $100,000.
Carpentersville Police Cmdr. Michael Kilbourne said the arrest Friday was the result of a joint investigation with the Illinois Attorney General's Internet Crimes Against Children unit, which traced the images to an Internet protocol address registered to Greene.
Kilbourne said police took Greene into custody after searching his home and finding pornographic images on his personal computer equipment.
"During an interview, Greene admitted to searching for items of child pornography on the Internet and storing those on his computer," Kilbourne said. "We do have the computer and other media still to search and will determine if any other charges are appropriate. The investigation is ongoing."
Greene has no criminal history in Kane County, court records show. His attorney did not immediately return a message seeking comment Monday.
If convicted of the Class 3 felony, Greene could be sentenced to two to five years in prison or probation. He is due in court April 16.
