Where to find special Easter brunches geared to families

If you're looking for a way to spend Easter Sunday, April 12, with family, there are plenty of options to share a meal and some quality time together.

While there are a huge number of restaurants throughout the suburbs hosting special Easter brunches, we've focused on ones that offer more family-friendly perks than just kids' menus.

Whether you're looking for photos with the Easter Bunny, face painting or an Easter egg hunt, these spots are sure to fill you up with food and fun.

Pheasant Run Resort & Spa

Time: 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Price: $37.95; $12.95 for children ages 5-12; free for kids younger than 5

Families can graze on a massive 100-item brunch buffet at Pheasant Run while listening to live jazz music. Bring the kids between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. and they'll get to color pages at a craft corner and meet the Easter Bunny and some real animals at a petting zoo.

Carlucci Restaurant & Bar

You'll find the regular Italian menu at Carlucci, along with some seasonal specials. While you eat, there's plenty of entertainment for kids including face painting, a magic show and a visit from the Easter Bunny.

Entourage on American Lane

Entourage offers a particularly elaborate buffet. The spread includes fruit, salad, smoked salmon, shrimp cocktail, eggs Benedict, scrambled eggs, omelets and French toast. Beyond the breakfast fare, you'll find a carving station and lunch dishes including pasta. Satisfy your sweet tooth with pastries, creme brulee, chocolate-covered strawberries and cheesecake, while your kids visit with the Easter Bunny and get some holiday candies.

Flatlander's

If you haven't had time for an Easter egg hunt this year, head to Flatlander's for brunch. From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., kids can get their picture taken with the Easter Bunny and search for goodies in a bunny patch. Of course there's also plenty of food offered in a huge buffet. You'll find breakfast fare like Belgian waffles and hash browns, made-to-order omelets, several types of soup and salad and a carving station with roast turkey breast and smoked ham. Save some room for an assortment of cake, cookies and pies. The meal also includes one complimentary mimosa, bloody Mary or glass of champagne or a glass of juice or milk.

Braxton Seafood Grill

Price: $25.95, $11.95 for kids ages 10 and younger

An all-day buffet starts with more breakfast fare, with items like bagels, sausage and omelets. After 3 p.m., the menu changes over to add dinner dishes, subbing in shrimp scampi, beef stroganoff and other entrees. Some standbys are available throughout, including sliced roast beef and ham, bread pudding and cheese blintzes. Come between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. if you want to catch the Easter Bunny.

Birch River Grill

Time: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Price: $14.95 to $32.95

Birch River Grill offers a hearty Easter brunch buffet, featuring a seafood station with smoked trout, shucked oysters, smoked king salmon and cocktail shrimp. Other fare includes a salad station, a carving station with roasted prime rib of beef and turkey breast and a continental breakfast.

Glen Prairie

Price: $12 to $27; children younger than 4 admitted free

Glen Prairie will host its first Easter brunch, featuring a bakery station, omelets made-to-order, a chef's station with maple-glazed Duroc ham and prime rib - even a "Kids' Corner" menu for little ones featuring Amish chicken nuggets, macaroni and cheese and silver dollar pancakes.
