Save Deer Grove Preserve from traffic
A letter to Cook County Commissioner Tim Schneider:
Deer Grove was my first forest preserve experience 60 years ago. We explored the creek, caught crawfish, our 7th grade class spent a week in Camp Reinberg, and our Boy Scout Troop had winter campouts and Klondike Derbies.
As an adult I have taken our kids mountain biking on the legal trails. In short, the forest preserves did everything for me, and thousands of others, that they were designed to do.
Quentin Road may be a bottleneck to some, but it preserves our heritage the way it is. Please do not let it go to four lanes with high curbs. Preserve it. Make it a special corridor. Encourage rush hour to go another way.
And if you keep the asphalt trails east of Quentin, nature will be more beautiful.
Please preserve Deer Grove.
