Renew swim passes
Hall Quarry Beach 2008 season pass holders can renew their season passes at a discounted rate through Thursday. Register between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. at the Civic Center, 327 W. Wilson St., or between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. at the Eastside Community Center, 14 N. Van Buren St. For details, see bataviaparks.org.
Build a new rec center?
The Batavia Park District is hosting forums to discuss the idea of building a recreation and aquatics center. The forums will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 7 and Thursday, April 30 at the Civic Center, 327 W. Wilson St. Residents also can take a survey on the issue at bataviaparks.org.
High school fashion show
St. Charles East High School's fashion merchandising classes will host a fashion show at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 8 at the Norris Cultural Arts Center, 1040 Dunham Road, St. Charles. The show, "Fashion Destinations," is open to the public and includes 80 student models as well as segments inspired by Paris, London, New York and multiple locations around the world. Area retail stores will supply the models with more than 100 spring ensembles. Designs from aspiring fashion designers also will be featured in a segment called "Projects for the Runway." Free health screenings
Free screenings for blood pressure, weight and body mass index are available from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursdays and Fridays at the Salvation Army, 1710 S. Seventh St., St. Charles. Celebrity handbag auction
Friends of Child Advocacy, a nonprofit organization that supports programs assisting sexually and severely physically abused children in Kane County, has received donations from Chicago radio personalities Kathy Hart, Mel-T, Melissa Foreman, Kathy O'Malley and Julie Mann for its "Handbags Full of Hope" online auction fundraiser.
