Wonder Lake woman, daughter dead after Barrington Hills crash
A woman from Wonder Lake and her 7-year-old daughter were killed, and several others were injured, after a multivehicle crash Saturday morning in Barrington Hills.
The accident occurred at 9:21 a.m. on Algonquin Road east of Bateman Road. Police said Barbara R. Page, 30, of Wonder Lake was driving east on Algonquin Road in a 2007 Ford Focus when she crossed the yellow line and hit a Nissan Sentra, then collided head-on with a GMC van traveling west, police said.
Page was declared dead at the scene, police said. A 7-year-old girl identified as Page's daughter, Angelina, was in the car and taken to St. Alexius Medical Center in Hoffman Estates, where she died later in the day, police said.
Autopsies are scheduled for Sunday, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.
A 6-year-old girl remained hospitalized at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge. Police would not disclose the names of the girl.
The driver of the van, Otilio Soto-Lopez of Carpentersville, and three passengers also were taken to St. Alexius for treatment, police said. Their injuries were serious, but none appeared to be life-threatening.
It was unclear whether anyone in the Nissan Sentra was injured.
No charges have been filed, and police continue to investigate the cause of the accident. The Barrington Hills Police Department is being assisted by the Lake County Major Crash Assistance team.
Algonquin Road was shut down between Bateman and Dundee Road until nearly 3 p.m. Saturday as investigators tried to piece together what happened.
