Vogg's double lifts Libertyville

Mandy Vogg's RBI double in the bottom of the seventh capped a dramatic win for Libertyville's softball team Thursday.

The Wildcats won 8-7, after the Mustangs pulled even with a pair of runs in the top of the inning.

Danielle Kaczmar paced a 13-hit attack for Libertyville (1-1) by going 3-for-4 with 2 RBI. The Wildcats got 2 hits apiece from Brittany Schick (3 runs scored), Toni Kintzel (double), Nicole Kruckman (triple) and Olivia Wilcox.

Vogg started in the circle and pitched 4 innings. Cally Kaluzny tossed the final 3 frames and earned the win.

Grayslake North 2, Highland Park 0: Freshman Kristina Gandy had 7 strikeouts for the Knights, who outhit the Giants 6-1.

Samantha Fletcher paced Grayslake North at the plate, going 2-for-3 with an RBI.

Grayslake Central losses 2: In Orlando, Fla., the Rams lost 3-2 decisions to John Hancock (Ky.) and Apollo. The game against John Hancock went 10 innings and was decided by the international tiebreaker.

Rams pitcher Monika Wedick had 15 strikeouts on the day.
