• Kevin Brockmeier, author of novels such as "The Brief History of the Dead" and "The Truth About Celia," will be on hand to read from and sign copies of his books at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 9, in Room VPA 191D of the Visual and Performing Arts Center at Elgin Community College, 1700 Spartan Drive, Elgin. Copies of Brockmeier's works will be available for purchase. The appearance is free and open to the public.
