Police charge 18 teens with underage drinking

Eighteen teenagers were charged with underage drinking last Friday after police were called to a party in progress in Libertyville.

Police alerted by an anonymous caller went to the home in the 1100 block of Loyola Drive about 10 p.m. March 27.

The adult residents were on vacation at the time, police said.

"Boys and girls, mostly local, ranging from 16 to 18 years of age," said Police Chief Pat Carey. Nineteen other minors tested negative for alcohol and were released to their parents.

A female minor who lives at the home also was charged with unlawfully permitting a minor to become intoxicated and possession of alcohol by a minor.

Two of those charged were taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center due to extreme intoxication, Carey said. All charged will appear in Mundelein branch court May 13.
